Young me, living in sunny Nigeria, heard played on the radio over many Christmases the song, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” (Bing Crosby). I used to wonder what snow felt like and imagined myself playing in the snow on Christmas day. I went on daydreaming about one day that I would have my white Christmas and oh what joy it will be!
Years went by, and I am now an adult living in the UK. Life is happening, Christmas came, Christmas went, yet no white Christmas. My dream is still a dream, laid unrealized somewhere in my childhood memory.
And so it happened during my life coaching training. I had a session on the ‘Vision Board’. I was transported to my childhood dream as I tried to create a canvas vision of my future. I remember my childhood dream vividly. I knew just then that I must do something about it.
I went in search of an affordable white Christmasy location. I decided to visit my sister, who now lives in Toronto, Canada. So I got on a flight. I’m not going to name the flight company as I had a terrible flight experience… a story for another time. However, despite flight disruptions, including spending a night at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport Canada, I was able to arrive in time to enjoy a white Christmas. I was ecstatic! I could not wait for Christmas morning to come. I woke up, put on my winter clothing, and I went with family to my dream came through. As I step out the door, I embrace the winter wonderland before me. I realized my dream has come true.
What is your dream?
Never give up on your dream, goal, or vision!
I have heard it said that some dreams do come true, and some may not but keep on dreaming…..
